Opportunities
Within a Call, typically published in December and expiring at the end of January, you will find all the information you need to participate in a mobility to European and non-European universities in the following academic year. It is therefore necessary to prepare early and carefully. In particular, by participating in the Call for Applications you can access these possibilities:
- take courses and take exams abroad, for the purpose of acquiring ECTS/CFU credits;
- take courses and take the relevant exams together with carrying out curricular internships at the destination location;
- for doctoral students, carry out research activities and attend courses for doctoral students;
- prepare thesis and doctoral thesis.
What is needed to study abroad?
To participate in the call, in addition to a solid motivation, you need:
- Knowledge of the foreign language of the country where you intend to go to study. Only a fraction of UNIPR's partner Universities offer courses in English, therefore learning an additional language is recommended. The minimum level required is typically B2, in some cases C1: you must have certification to participate in the call for applications. If you don't have it, the university offers a way to get it at no cost through a Language Placement Test
- After choosing a few partner locations according to one's inclinations, from those indicated in the Call for Applications, establishing an order of preference. A good idea is to consult the websites of the partner Universities. The list of partner Universities is given, each year, within the Call.
After being selected, a Learning Agreement is agreed with the International Mobility Committee and the contact persons of the host location.
All credits agreed in the Learning Agreement and acquired by the student during the study abroad period are fully recognized as valid for the study plan, without requiring the student to do any supplementary activities or additional exams. Examination grades abroad are converted into UNIPR grades according to pre-established tables.
Number of grants and length of time abroad
Students will be able to study and/or receive training abroad from a minimum of 3 up to 12 months within each study cycle (bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D.-so up to a maximum of 36 months in total) regardless of the type of mobility (studies or internship) and the number of mobility periods (e.g., 2 periods of 6 months or 3 periods of 4 months, even spread over different years of the same cycle).
Financial assistance
Students are paid a monthly grant, the amount of which varies according to specific needs (such as the cost of living in the destination country). Important: To receive the grant, it is essential to sustain a minimum of credits abroad, otherwise it must be returned.
Three groups of countries participating in Erasmus+ broken down according to the cost of living:
- Country with the same cost of living as the home country: EU grant ranging between 200 and 450 euro per month (average amount)
- Country with higher cost of living: average amount increased by at least 50 euros per month
- Country with lower cost of living: average amount decreased by at least 50 euros per month
