The research proposed here is intended to identify and develop artificial intelligence
(AI) models, in the form of both machine learning algorithms and neural networks, to
be applied to semiconductor oxide sensor arrays capable of identifying and/or
classifying possible contamination in real time for agri-food supply chains. This will
reduce impacts on the environment, reduce waste and protect public health. Arrays
of nano-sensors of volatile compounds based on semiconductor oxides designed and
manufactured by Nano Sensor Systems S.r.l. will be used. Advanced artificial
intelligence models offer an innovative and reliable approach to continuously
monitor food quality and safety throughout the production and distribution chain,
thereby promoting greater consumer confidence and helping to ensure high
standards of food safety and environmental sustainability. This approach enables
proactive management of risks and potential threats to food safety.
