The Laboratory ThiFiLab

New ThiFiLab initiatives

 1. SUSTAINABLE PHOTOVOLTAIC

  • The purpose of this research is the development of new materials for the construction of eco-sustainable photovoltaic modules. Cells based on Cu2ZnSn (S, Se) 4 (CZTS) were obtained using the "ThiFiLab" manufacturing process (patent application No. PR2015A000017). This important goal was achieved by using common (not rare) and eco-sustainable elements to produce an intelligent photovoltaic system that provides a high degree of integration in low energy buildings.
  • Study of new absorbing materials based on materials easily available on the earth's surface and environmentally sustainable. Focusing on new European projects in the Horizon 2020 area we focus on SnSe, Sb2Se3 and FeS2 (pyrite).

 2. WIDE BANDGAP SEMICONDUCTORS

  • Wide-bandgap oxides are increasingly studied for their particular physical properties, which make them suitable for numerous scientific and industrial applications, such as transparent electronic devices, photovoltaic solar-blind ultraviolet-light detectors, spintronic devices, random access memory devices, high power and high voltage electronic devices, gas sensors, ultraviolet-light emitters and photocatalysis. In particular, we are studying the epsilon phase of Ga2O3, which has the great advantage of being able to be grown epitassially on sapphire at relatively low temperatures (600 ° C). This material naturally has a n-type conductivity which, increases due to doping with Si or Sn.
